Project SPECK – Systemic optimisation of the meat value chain using the example of pig farming through the development and embedding of digital tools
Aim of the project is the systemic optimisation of the meat value chain (WSK) using the example of pig farming through the development and embedding of digital tools. Based on a software solution, SPECK will ensure the traceability of animal-related data within the value chain (WSK) including the use of medication in pig farming; further develop concepts of smart farming and the smart food factory and implement them in context; significantly increase resource and energy efficiency as well as animal welfare and product quality. The aim is to develop a digital overall solution for optimised individual animal tracing and for continuous process diagnostics and process control along the WSK from rearing to processing.
The project is being worked on in an integrative inter- and transdisciplinary approach, which is why the consortium includes innovative representatives from the relevant sectors as well as an interdisciplinary research team.
Within the framework of the project, at least 12 case studies along the value chain (breeding, fattening, slaughtering, processing) will be investigated.
