Profile of Faculty 15
The Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Faculty 15, with its seven institutes is spread over three university locations in Kassel and one in neighbouring Baunatal. We offer the two Bachelor's degree programmes Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics and Master's degree programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency. In addition, there is a tuition fee based, five-semester Master's programme in Industrial Production Management.
In teaching, we prefer research-oriented study programmes with a high degree of practical relevance and an interdisciplinary approach. There is a wide range of cooperation and curricular links with the study programmes of the Faculty of Economics and Management (Faculty 07), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Faculty 10), Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Faculty 14) and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Faculty 16). Repeatedly received awards are a testament to the high level of commitment of our lecturers. This is exemplified by the Hessische Hochschulpreis für Exzellenz in der Lehre (1st prize in the field of Solar and Plant Engineering 2020) or the VDMA Young Talent Award for Digitalisation (1st prize in the field of Measurement and Control System Engineering 2017).
Our particular strengths include the good supervision ratio and the infrastructure: in addition to the faculty's central course planning and the close proximity of central facilities, this also includes the central computer pool (Computer Engineering Centre - CEC), which is used across all degree programmes, for example, for teaching in the area of CAD and information technology.
