Research profile of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
Research at Faculty 15
The research profile of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering focuses on four main areas: Biologisation of technology, decarbonisation and resource efficiency, digital transformation of products and processes as well as the reliability of processes, structures and functions.
The 22 fields of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are integrated into research networks and scientific centres of the University of Kassel. These include: The Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology (CINSaT); the Forschungsverbund Fahrzeugsysteme (FAST); the Competence Centre for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaption (CliMA), the Polymere Application Center UNIpace and the Research Center for Information System Design (ITeG). Last but not least, there are intensive and lasting cooperations with other German scientific institutions, commercial businesses, associations and federations.
