Open Access

According to the definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative, Open Access (OA) describes academic literature or information, which is available online free of charge and can be used in any conceivable legal way, including reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, searching and linking. This not only covers text publications like journal articles, conference contributions, anthologies and monographs, but also other digital items such as research data.

The University of Kassel and the University Library both support Open Access. You will find detailed information about OA in general and the associated range of services here. Current information is also available in the University Library Blog or on the Open Access Information Platform.

Commitment of the UB Kassel

Worldwide free access to research results (Open Access) is a basic requirement for the long-term availability of human knowledge independent of economic interests. As employees of the University Library, the State Library and the Murhard Library of the City of Kassel, we feel particularly committed to this concern for open access to scientific information and therefore publish our professional contributions as open access publications whenever possible.
