Open Access Publication Fund

The University of Kassel has a Publication Fund to support academics as they publish their works Open Access. We have been funding publication fees for articles in Gold Open Access journals since 2013 and for Open Access monographs since mid-2021.

The fund receives financial support by the German Research Association (DFG) between 2022 and 2024 with a total of EUR 377,500. This is a partial funding. The University Library still finances the fund significantly by own means. Demand has increased markedly. Please therefore make sure that you always apply for funds for Open Access publication when sending research proposals to external funders. The Publication Fund can only be used if no personal funds are available.
