Information on how to apply for a place on the ‘Promote Your Career’ project

"Promote Your Career" is the key to your career in Germany: a tailor-made, career-oriented language training program that will take you step by step over two years to the desired German level B2 and teach you the most important strategies and soft skills for a successful degree, an effective application and career entry.

Please have the following documents to hand: Certificate of enrollment, language certificate and motivation notes.



If you do not have a language certificate, please take an online German test at Cornelsen Verlag. Choose the appropriate level: A1, A2, B1, plan about 60 minutes for the test, do not use a dictionary, at the end you will receive the result by e-mail, this is then your proof:

Unfortunately, exchange students and students from partner universities are not eligible to participate.

Course 1: Deutsch A - German for absolute beginners A

Target level: A1.1 aligned with level A1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Course contents: This course has been developed for beginners with no previous knowledge of the German language and teaches strategies for simple communicative situations in student and daily life. The four skills Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking will be trained.

Course Material: Netzwerk neu A1.1, course and workbook with audios and videos (Klett Verlag), ISBN 978-3-12-607154-3. The purchase of the course material is mandatory.

Course dates: Wednesday 4 pm to 8 pm and Friday 2 pm to 6 pm

Classroom: on Wednesdays in Kurt-Wolters-Str. 5, room 0017, on Fridays in Kurt-Wolters-Str. 3, room 2207

First class is on Wednesday, 30 October 2024 Last class: Friday, 14 February 2025

Mandatory attendance: 75%   ECTS-Points: 8

Mandatory Workshops with L. Schikowski:

  1. Saturday, 16 November, 9 am – 12 am, online via Zoom
  2. Saturday, 23 November, 10 am – 1 pm, Kurt-Wolters-Str. 5, room 1020

In case of illness of the teacher, the following mandatory alternative dates will be offered: Saturday, 11 January, 9 am – 12.30 pm, and Saturday, Saturday, 11 January, 9 am – 12.30 pm (please hold these dates free).
