How can the mobility of women with care work on the University of Kassel campus be improved?
Project objective
The EMPOWER-U project examines the mobility needs of women with care responsibilities at the University of Kassel and develops solutions for family-friendly and inclusive campus mobility. Women with care responsibilities often have complex sequences of everyday journeys that are difficult to reconcile with existing mobility services. The project analyzes obstacles and existing support services and develops measures to improve the integration of family-friendly mobility solutions, e.g. through the use of electric cargo bikes. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, a SWOT analysis, focus groups and surveys among female employees, mobility patterns, needs and potentials are identified. The results serve as a basis for sustainable improvements to campus mobility and can serve as a model for other universities.
