Just Transitions Law Clinic
The subject of the Just Transitions Law Clinic (JTLC) is the role of law in a just socio-ecological transformation. The JTLC is not a classic, practice-oriented law clinic that focuses on student legal advice. The JTLC will work with students of the University of Kassel and cooperation partners on a project-related basis to produce, for example, advisory guidelines, shadow reports, legal opinions and policy papers that can be used by our cooperation partners. We work in an interdisciplinary way with the law and thus create basic legal training for non-specialist courses such as social work and political science.
Topics and questions are brought directly to the Law Clinic by the project partners. Academic and didactic support is provided by the team from the Just Transitions department at the University of Kassel via corresponding seminars.
If you are interested in participating or have suitable project ideas, please contact Dr. Nele Austermann.
In the winter semester 2024/24, the JTLC will start with the topic "Law against the Right" and ask about the role of law in the fight against right-wing extremism. Specifically, the focus will be on political neutrality in contrast to the "freedom of values" in political education demanded by right-wing actors.
