The research activities in the research area "Education and Teaching" are focused on sport pedagogical and sport didactical questions. The research methodology is based on empirical educational research and is designed qualitatively and quantitatively based on the respective research object (e.g. interview, case analysis, questionnaire, test and observation procedures).

The topics in the research area can be assigned to the three main areas of evaluation research, development research, and education and teaching research. The research work is related to the evaluation of programs and concepts of different educational institutions, the analysis of development processes and support measures for children and adolescents as well as the investigation of competence development and teaching quality in the context of teacher training.

Evaluation Research

Within the framework of the scientific evaluation of programs and concepts of educational institutions, the focus is on the examination of pedagogical quality criteria and systemic structural features.

Development Research

The work within the framework of developmental research is essentially related to the investigation of course characteristics and influencing variables as well as the effect of support measures in childhood and adolescence.

Training and teaching research

The studies of this research focus are concerned with physical education teacher education and physical education. They are based on concepts of pedagogical professionalism and educational physical education and thematically relate to teaching quality and reflectivity as well as diversity and inclusion.
