Full doctoral theses that clearly relate to one of the three main topics of the working group (see website) will be given preference.

When first contacted, please send the following information by mail (summarized in this order in a pdf):

  1. Letter of Motivation (max. one page), including information
    1. on an explanation, as concrete as possible, why the work fits well into the working group (e.g. by establishing references to research projects or publications in the working group)
    2. the (planned or secured) funding for the doctoral phase (in which funding program and for how long have funding for the doctoral project already been successfully applied for or will be applied for at what time?) and
    3. the planned start and end of the doctorate.
  2. Short synopsis (max. two pages), including information on
    1. on the planned research question (if applicable, the classification of the research question in the main topics of the working group),
    2. on the planned scientific methods of data collection and analysis,
    3. the planned research area and
    4. the time schedule (if possible, already list work packages) during the doctoral studies.
  3. Letter of recommendation
  4. Proof of language skills, if the native language is not German or English: CEFR B2 in German or English (or equivalent of another language certificate, e.g. IELTS 5.0-6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72-94 or Cambridge Certificate FCE).

No invitation letter can be issued for requests without this information.
