Information for doctoral students and visiting scholars who are planning a doctorate or a research stay at the University of Kassel.

(International) PhD students and visiting scholars are always welcome in the department. The University of Kassel supports doctoral studies and visiting scholars through various means. In the Department of Economics of Urban and Regional Development, there is an intensive scientific exchange and supervision on the main research topics.

Against this background, it is necessary that the planned research fits well into the subject area in terms of content and that there are necessary language skills for the exchange (requirements see below). It should be taken into account that (some) German language skills are helpful for the organization of everyday life.

However, the Department of Economics of Urban and Regional Development cannot finance the doctorates or guest stays. Doctoral students and visiting scholars are responsible for financing their stay, including housing and health insurance.
