Materialbörse "Reststück"

The Materials Exchange at the University of Kassel is an initiative by students for students. Its aim is to promote the sustainable use of resources and avoid wasting materials - for example when building models.

How Does the Materialbörse Work?

Surplus material from the project rooms - such as cardboard, wooden boards and Styrodur - is collected, processed and made available for further use. Students can collect this material free of charge from the materials exchange and thus actively contribute to resource conservation and a more sustainable campus.

The materials exchange is located in the Maker:Lab in the Kolbenseeger building, Gottschalkstraße 28-30. Information on the materials and organizational matters such as opening hours etc. can be found on the website: https://reststück-unikassel.de/.

The student initiative Less:on has also built so-called Re:Use material boxes, which are set up decentrally in every workroom on the ASL campus: Leftover materials from model making can be stored here and made available for further use.

Who Can Use the Offer?

The Materialbörse is open to all students, teaching staff and employees of the University of Kassel. Anyone who needs material can simply drop by and see if suitable material is available. Registration is not necessary - the Materialbörse is available to anyone who needs it.

What Do Users Need to Consider?

To ensure that as many people as possible can benefit from the Materialbörse, it is important to take only the necessary amount of material and to keep it tidy and clean. Materials handed in should be in good condition and free of garbage or unusable items so that they can continue to be used.
