About the association
FoSS promotes cooperation between the participating universities in research and teaching, supports young academics and transfers knowledge into practice.
The focus is on networking between the universities and Faculties as well as regional practice in order to increase the national and international visibility of the research work. FoSS is also open to external academics and practitioners.
FoSS is supported by the Verein zur Förderung von Forschung und Wissentransfer in Sozialrecht und Sozialpolitik e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Research and Knowledge Transfer in Social Law and Social Policy). Its members include personalities and institutions from the practice of social law and social policy in North Hesse.
Faculties involved
With its four Institutes (Institute of Education, Institute of Music, Institute of Psychology, Institute of Social Sciences), the Faculty of Human Sciences is a heterogeneous department in terms of its research topics and methods, which knows how to make productive use of its diversity and has great interdisciplinary research potential.
The Faculty's unifying research profile can be seen in the following points: On the one hand, there is an interest in concepts of past, present and future societies which, in comparison to older research views, are expanded by an ecological perspective or challenged by ecological problems. In addition, the various subjects devote their research to the challenges posed by transnational and translocal dynamics, above all to the relationships between the global North and the global South.
The Faculty's research profile focuses on four key areas: Economic Behavior and Governance (EB&Go), Digital Transformation (DITRA), Skills Acquisition & Entrepreneurship (KENT) and Sustainability, Energy and Environment (NEU). They deal with the central challenges of our time and highlight topics of particular social, economic, scientific, legal, technological, environmental and educational relevance.
The Faculty of Health Sciences aims to use application-oriented research to gain new insights for the promotion of public health, for patient-oriented healthcare and for the scientific development of non-physician healthcare professions and to make these accessible to practitioners.
The Faculty sees its research activities as scientific elements in shaping social development from the perspectives of democracy, civil society and sustainability. At the same time, it reflects on the impact of science in a social context.
Research at the Faculty deals with current socio-political issues and the challenges of the profession and professionalism of social work. Research in and about the fields and problems of social work means answers to current socio-political questions and discourses on the professional challenges of social work.
