Diversity research working group

Diversity research at FoSS bundles research questions and findings that deal with the handling of social heterogeneity. While the concepts of diversity and heterogeneity initially emphasize that societies are rarely homogeneously structured, the Diversity Research working group is made up of academics who conduct research into issues of social (in)justice and social inequalities in connection with diversity.

Even though diversity research in Germany has primarily developed from gender and migration research, the working group also claims to address socio-political and socio-legal issues from a broad intersectional perspective, focusing in particular on gender and age(ing) as characteristics of social inequalities. In the working group, an interdisciplinary discussion on social practices for dealing with diversity will be strengthened. Sociologists, educationalists, social work scientists, political scientists, psychologists and lawyers bring together discourses on (anti-)discrimination, solidarity, professionalism, democratization, social sustainability and transformation. In a transdisciplinary manner, the perspectives of practice, especially social work, are included in the basic and application-oriented practical research. The working group is open to all qualification levels and organizes at least one lecture each semester in the series "Diversity Research".
