The Department of Finance Administration and Budget is divided into the areas of Central Materials Management, Financial Accounting/Taxes, Financial Controlling/Budgeting and Third-Party Funding Management. The employees of the Department of Finance Administration and Budget promote the core business of the University of Kassel in teaching and research and provide competent and comprehensive advice and support to the staff of the University at all levels. In addition to accounting, purchasing/procurement services are offered.

Central Materials Management

The Central Materials Management group is responsible for the procurement of goods (equipment, consumables) and services (services, consulting contracts) as well as for the management of centrally allocated state funds. We advise and support the organizational units of the University of Kassel in all areas of purchasing.

Financial Accounting and Taxes

The Financial Accounting group is responsible for the topics of incoming and outgoing invoices, payment transactions, asset accounting and taxes. We prepare the annual financial statements, the tax returns of the university as well as its commercial enterprises.

Financial Controlling and Budgeting

The Financial Controlling group supports the university in all matters relating to state and QSL funds. We are the contact for cost unit accounting, university financial statistics and support the university with regard to cost calculations and commercial reporting. The group prepares and manages the university's internal allocation of funds and the resulting budgets, and posts internal invoices/services. Similarly, we are responsible for setting up and maintaining account assignment objects (cost centers and orders), including their processing/settlement.

Third-Party Funding Management

The Third-Party Funding Management group supports the scientists of the University of Kassel in the management of research projects. The spectrum of tasks ranges from the submission of applications, to the necessary conclusion of contracts, to the management of funds, to their accounting.
