Legal Services Office I

The Legal Services Office I  - represented by Dr. Faupel - advises and supports the members and institutions of the University in all relevant legal matters as well as in all matters in which a legal assessment or decision is required. In particular, legal advice is given to the Chancellor on fundamental matters of the University as well as to the entire Presidential Board. In individual cases, coordination takes place with and between the other legal advisers and clerks.

Dr. Faupel also represents the Chancellor in all matters.

The Legal Services Office I is responsible for general civil, criminal and domestic law matters, for foundation, association and corporate law, for contractual matters and cooperations (except for contractual matters in third-party funding and service projects, here the responsibility lies with the third-party funding service of the Finance Department), for questions of radiation and animal protection, the Genetic Engineering Act and for overarching fundamental legal matters of the university.

In addition, the office of the Committee for the Safeguarding of Good Scientific Practice is located in the Legal Services Office I,  where all legal questions concerning scientific misconduct are dealt with.

The office is also responsible for managing the training of legal trainees.
