A1: Growth, yield, quality

In order to characterize the course of growth and development as well as the resulting competitive relationships in the mixed crops over the vegetation period, shoot biomass and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake of the individual species in pure seeds and mixed crops are determined using hand cuttings and remote sensing. Yield parameters and grain and straw yields are determined at harvest, as are the crude protein and micronutrient contents of the wheat as parameters for baking quality and nutritional quality, as well as the contents of value-adding and value-reducing essential oils in the medicinal plants. Based on the yield data from all trials and locations, the stability and adaptability of the mixtures to different environments is quantified.
