Context/Cause: According to the election regulations, both an election proposal list and the respective consent forms must be submitted by the list officers for each election proposal.
Both the preparation of the election proposal list and the obtaining of the declarations of consent, which must be signed by hand by each candidate, represent an enormous organizational effort for the list officers. At the same time, the examination of the election proposal lists and the declarations of consent by the electoral office is also very time-consuming, since on the one hand it has to be checked manually whether the documents have been filled in correctly and completely and on the other hand, due to frequent errors in filling them in (no list names, missing declarations of consent, nomination of ineligible persons, etc.), frequent consultations have to be held with the list officers and this sometimes within a very narrow time window, since many proposals are received only very shortly before the deadline.
The company Polyas, which has also been successfully conducting university elections for the past two years, offers a newly developed nomination platform, a tool that digitizes the process of submitting election proposal lists and consent forms. The nomination lists created can be passed directly to the online election system after the nomination phase has been completed or downloaded and uploaded again for the purpose of manual adjustments.
Status/implementation
The nomination platform is already being used for the 2023 university elections in the nomination phase from 04.05.2023 to 31.05.2023.
