Emergency Kits for Oil and Chemicals

Emergency kit for oil spills

The most important component of the emergency oil kit is an organic binder that can quickly and effectively absorb a wide variety of oil-like substances after an accident. It binds, for example, motor and hydraulic oil, heating oil and all oil-like substances, lubricants, gasoline and fuels, but also chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, emulsions, paints, solvents and coolants.

The highly effective binder consists of water-repellent organic fibers and can also be used on wet soil, earth or water.

The scope of delivery of the "Emergency Oil Kit" includes not only the clamping ring lid drum, binding agent, sweeping set and protective gloves, but also all the necessary hazardous material documents, which makes the collection and disposal of the drum filled with contaminated binding agent particularly easy and safe after an accident.

Emergency set oil

The emergency kit costs €25 and can be obtained from Christina Ebert, Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection Group, via e-mail:

In the event of an accident, the spilled liquid is spread with the binding agent, which is then absorbed and placed in the drum together with the sweeping set and gloves.

The order to dispose of the barrel is given by e-mail: arbeitssicherheit[at]uni-kassel[dot]de.

The emergency kit should be kept on hand in all areas where it may occur that the above-mentioned environmentally hazardous substances have to be removed quickly and effectively from the floor or from furnishings.

Emergency kit for accidents with chemicals

When decanting, transporting or storing chemicals, oils or fuels, it can happen that liquid escapes unintentionally and spreads on the floor. Depending on the type of chemical, it can be difficult to clean up the spill. For such accidents, the University of Kassel has a chemical emergency kit to absorb and properly dispose of spilled liquids.

It consists of a small clamping ring lid drum, a universal binder, a sweeping set and protective gloves.

Emergency kit chemicals

The emergency kit costs €20 and can be obtained from Christina Ebert, Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection Group, by e-mail:

After scattering the spilled liquid, the saturated binder can be picked up and placed in the barrel together with the sweeping set and gloves.

The order to dispose of the barrel is given by e-mail: arbeitssicherheit[at]uni-kassel[dot]de.

The emergency kit should be kept in all areas where chemicals are handled.
