The project is dedicated to a reflected gender and heterogeneity competence in school sports and addresses especially future sports teachers, but also those already working at schools. The aim is to increase the quality of teaching at the IfSS in terms of gender mainstreaming and dealing with heterogeneity. This is done by way of a stronger approach to gender classifications and performance conditions in sports or school sports.

Different perspectives, such as the analysis of body language, biographical self-reflection and classroom observation via questionnaires, videography and reflection phases, are focused on in order to derive an appropriately tailored concept for teaching that more strongly integrates the development of gender competencies into educational processes in sports studies.­Although the topic of gender and coeducation has been anchored in sports science for some time and is the subject of projects, seminars, etc., it has not yet been structurally anchored in teacher training in the subject of sports. This shows that there is a need for action and that the topic must be accorded a high degree of importance, especially in the study of sport as a subject that emphasizes body and movement. The measures of the subproject refer to the different fields of education of sports studies (subject science, subject didactics, school practice) and are based on approaches to gender competence and biographical self-reflection.

Findings are also to be both identified and communicated in cooperating schools. Furthermore, concepts for a workshop on "body language, language and gender in school sports" for sports teachers can be developed and offered as further education.
