Teaching report of the faculties
For the evaluation of teaching and study conditions at the faculty level, centrally and decentrally available instruments and procedures are used. The establishment of control loops for quality assurance and development as well as for dealing with the results of evaluations is currently also in constant development in the departments. In order to promote this process, the Presidential Board of the University of Kassel adopted the "Handreichung für die Erstellung des Lehrberichts auf Fachbereichssebene" (Guidelines for the Preparation of the Teaching Report at the Department Level) on July 15, 2013, after extensive discussion and with the participation of experienced departmental representatives. In this handout, essential aspects for the further development of the teaching report, which has already been established since 2004 in connection with the evaluation of the results of the course evaluation, are formulated. At the request of the departments, the handout also contains a proposal for a possible report structure in the appendix (see appendix).
The teaching report will now be produced every two years from winter semester 13/14 and, as before, will contain the main results of the evaluations (course evaluations, module evaluations, student surveys, graduate studies, ...), formulate initial options for action derived from them and comment on particular current challenges in the practice of studying and teaching. In the future, however, the processes initiated in the faculty and, if applicable, the control loops established for quality development in teaching and learning will be described in particular in the teaching report as an essential element. The teaching report is to be compiled with the participation of students and widely discussed in the faculty. Parts of the report should also be used in external evaluation procedures (accreditation, auditing, see below) with the appropriate timing. The teaching report is the basis for the biennial discussions between the Presidential Board and the Dean's Office, in which topics from the report are taken up and measures in teaching and learning are derived for the next two years.
