Approval Procedure PO
Examination regulations have the character of statutes issued by the university as a self-governing body. The individual subject examination regulations are developed by thedepartments and formally and legally reviewed by the university administration. Subsequently, the departmental examination regulations are adopted by the departmental councils.
Before they come into force, the Senate of the University of Kassel must approve an examination regulation. For quality assurance purposes, the Senate has established a Commission for Study and Teaching Affairs which makes recommendations to the Senate. After the Senate's approval, the examination regulations must be approved by the Presidential Board. The examination regulations then come into force with their publication in the University of Kassel's official gazette. The Department of Studies and Teaching coordinates the approval procedure.
For the creation of examination and amendment regulations, there are some formal, content-related and legal requirements that should be observed. You will find the corresponding working aids below.
Good scheduling is important for the speedy progress of the procedure: For timely formal and legal reviewof new examination and amendment regulations by the administration, you should contact the Department of Studies & Teaching in good time (at the latest, however, six weeks before the decision of the departmental council). Please also note, especially in the case of Master's programs, that in the case of changes in the area of admission requirements, all necessary resolutions must be available in good time before the start of the application process.
Please use the committee dates provided below as a guide for scheduling. New examination and amendment regulations can only be considered in the approval procedure if the adopted regulations have been submitted to the Department of Studies & Teaching in good time - at least two weeks before the meeting of the Senate Commission.
