Water action day 2024 at the engineering school

On July 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be numerous activities on the subject of water at the site of the engineering school, e.g.

  • Information on tap water consumption & Health,
  • an online seminar on drinking water for employees (9.30 to 11.00 a.m.),
  • a water quiz & CO2 footprint game,
  • the opportunity to take a body composition measurement,
  • a rowing ergometer to try out from university sports,
  • a water bike,
  • an interactive heavy rain hazard map,
  • a caricature exhibition and a toolbox with a wheel of fortune, future newspaper and audio stations from the "Water of the future" project of the Forum for International Development and Planning(www.finep.org/waterofthefuture),
  • a workshop on the water handprint and
  • Water projects in the Global South, presented by the associations: Engineers Without Borders e.V. and Uganda Team e.V..

The benefits of tap water consumption will be highlighted on the day of action: When we consume tap water, we not only save a lot ofCO2 and (plastic) bottles, tap water is also a much cheaper solution compared to bottled water: for one liter of bottled water you get about 200 liters of tap water. It is also, almost everywhere, very uncomplicated and available around the clock. Tap water is of very good quality and is regularly checked at the university.

To make drinking water even more attractive, "infused water" will be available on the campaign day  and the Techniker Krankenkasse health insurance company and the University of Kassel's company health management team will be providing information on the subject of health and drinking enough water. University sports will be presenting various water sports options. The focus of the day of action will be the inauguration of the drinking water dispenser in the foyer of the School of Engineering in Wilhelmshöher-Allee. We are very pleased that a water dispenser will soon be installed at every university location.
