International Conference, Encuentro CELA 2024: Ecofeminismo y Ecocrítica. Nuevas perspectivas interdisciplinarias desde América Latina y el Caribe

Annual Conference of the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CELA) of the University of Kassel 2024:
In the context of ecocriticism, climate thinking and the question of socio-ecological transformations, the humanities and social sciences are questioning socio-economic discourses and power relations that view nature as a resource available to humans for use and exploitation. Since the emergence of ecofeminism in the 1970s, the pursuit of climate justice has been closely linked to the pursuit of gender justice and the fight against social, racial and neo-colonial inequalities and discrimination. The debate on ecofeminism and ecocriticism in Latin America and the Caribbean is situated in the context of the discussion on feminism in the Global South, decolonial ecology and epistemologies of the South. The conference examines practices and processes of socio-ecological transformations from an interdisciplinary perspective, with a focus on literary and artistic representations as well as from a sociological and political science perspective.
