Standard Curricular Values

The Curricularnormwert (standard curricular value / CNW) for a degree programme is listed in Annex 2 of the Kapazitätsverordnung (Higher Education Admission Capacity By-Law / KapVO). It represents the maximum amount of teaching that can be made allowance for in the calculation of admission numbers (KapVO paragraph 13 (1)).

The CNWs applied for the degree programmes of the University of Kassel with the degrees of Bachelor, Master and Staatsexamen are summarised in the Presidential Board Decision P/656 of January 17, 2022. The CNWs for Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes are derived from the CNWs of previous Diplom or Magister degree programs in accordance with the specifications of the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and the Arts (HMWK). The CNWs for art and design study programmes are specified in Annex 2 of the KapVO.
