Hessen SolarCup on May 24

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the competitions with the solar boats, the ultralight solar mobiles, the SolaRobots and the remote-controlled solar mobiles will take place throughout the day. The solar-powered models were built by pupils and trainees under the guidance of their teachers and trainers in schools and companies. It is not only the speed of the models that counts; the documentation and the annual theme posters are also taken into account in the overall ranking.

This year's theme is "Living mobility anew". With this theme, the Hessen SolarCup is very close to the pupils who are demonstrating as part of Fridays for Future.

The main sponsors of the Hessen SolarCup are the CDW Foundation, Städtische Werke Kassel and, for the first time this year, Volkswagenwerk Kassel. The event is organized by the University of Kassel and co-organized by the Environment and Garden Office of the City of Kassel. The patron is the Hessian Minister for Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development, Tarek Al-Wazir.

The award ceremony will take place on June 7, 2019 at the university in Wilhelmshöher Allee (former engineering school), not open to the public for the winning teams, teachers and their families.
