_EXPANDED FILM MUSIC PERFORMANCE_

On this evening, students from the Institute of Music at the University of Kassel and the Kunsthochschule will present jointly developed experimental short films with self-composed music and sound design. Live performance elements will be complemented by audiovisual media in the projection room. Between the films, the students' exciting concepts can be explained and explored with questions (audience participation encouraged).

The films are the result of a cooperation between the seminar "Writing Film Music" of the Institute for Music at the University of Kassel (Roman Beilharz) and the participants of the "Praxis-Werkstatt-Film" of the Art Academy's focus "Film and Moving Image" (Prof. Jan Peters).

For this event in the winter semester 2023/24, the students of the Kunsthochschule shot analog 16mm films with a spring-loaded camera with a wind-up motor without sound, developed some of the analog film material themselves with instant coffee, vitamin C and washing soda and had some of it developed in color in the film lab. In the summer semester of 2024, the resulting material was presented to students from the Institute of Music and sound and music ideas for the respective works were developed together with the musician, composer and inventor Pit Przygodda. This allowed image and sound to inspire each other at every stage and the intensive collaboration between image and sound creators became the central content of the mediation.
