The subject area is to be represented in teaching and research. Teaching responsibilities are divided equally between the History courses in the Department of Social Sciences (BA, MA and teacher training courses) and the English/American Studies courses in the Department of Humanities and Cultural Studies (BA, MA and teacher training courses). The English and American Studies courses at the Department of Social Sciences are taught in English.

 

In research, cooperation with other subject areas and the research focuses of both departments, in particular History, is encouraged. Special familiarity with cultural-historical issues in the history of Great Britain and the history of North America is required.

 

Outstanding publication achievements and experience in acquiring third-party funding are expected. In the promotion of young academics, cooperation in the area of structured doctoral training is expected. The duties also include participation in academic self-administration.
