Part-time position with half the working hours of a full-time employee. This is a fixed term-position first until 15.08.2020 with the possibility of extending the contract for a further 1,5 years (position for academic qualification corresponding to § 65 HHG i. V. m. § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG; opportunity for PhD project).

 

The position is embedded in the graduate program BangaDyn and works in close cooperation with the DFG research unit FOR2432 (http://www.uni-kassel.de/fb11agrar/en/sections/home/for2432.html).

 

Tasks:

  • The investigation of anthropogenic influences on the water balance in the Arkavathy catchment north of Bangalore by means of hydrological modelling
  • Publication of scientific results

 

Specific requirements:

  • A good to very good scientific university degree in hydrology, environmental engineering or similar
  • First experiences in hydrological modeling
  • Experiences with Geographic Information Systems (QGis,  ArcGIS) and statistical software
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Intention to obtain a PhD

 

Assets would be:

  • Knowledge of local hydrological conditions around Bangalore, India.
  • Language skills in Kannada
  • Thorough and independent ways of working
  • A high level of organizational skills
