Postdoctoral researcher to establish a junior research group in groundwater ecology (m/f/d), EG 14 TV-H - in the field of hydrology and material balance

Job profile:

In coordination with the Department of Hydrology and Matter Balance at the University of Kassel, you will design and apply for third-party funding within the funding period for your own research project to establish a junior research group in the field of groundwater ecology and carry out the preliminary work for this. In doing so, a connection to the DFG research group FOR2432 (www.uni-kassel.de/go/for-2432) should be established. With regard to a promising application for the establishment of the planned junior research group, the integration of the planned project into the scientific environment of the research group and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is important and must be presented in a concept as part of the application.

In accordance with your topic, you will offer courses amounting to four semester hours per week in the Environmental Engineering degree program.

Requirements profile:

You

• have a university degree in environmental engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology or a comparable degree
• have successfully completed your doctorate in the field of groundwater research no more than three years ago
• have relevant research and publication experience, including international experience, which qualifies you to lead a junior research group and meets the requirements of the desired funding format
• are planning a forward-looking research project in groundwater research, which may focus on the following topics:
  • Groundwater quantity and quality
  • Contamination problems and groundwater protection
  • Research into groundwater flow and transport processes
  • Modeling of flow, transport and reaction processes in the subsurface
  • Concepts for groundwater management

Applicants are expected to submit a technically elaborate exposé on the acquisition of a junior research group with a description of the envisaged follow-up funding - including alternatives if applicable. The exposé must include a detailed time and work plan for three years.
