Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the Department of Experimental Physics I

The position is initially limited for 3 years with the possibility of extension for a further 3 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility of habilitation is given. In addition, an increase to full-time to work on the DFG project "Fundamentals of Quantum Thermodynamics" is planned for a limited period until 30.09.2021 (§ 2 para. 2 WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

• Scientific collaboration in research and teaching in the field of Experimental Physics I
• Independent work on a research sub-area in the Experimental Physics I working group
• Collaboration in the research area (DFG project "Fundamentals of Quantum Thermodynamics")

Prerequisites:

• University degree in physics (optics/photonics) with very good to good results
• Doctorate in the field of quantum optics and atomic/molecular physics with very good to good results
• Experience in atomic and molecular spectroscopy, high-resolution microscopy
• Experience with laser stabilization and optical resonators
• Knowledge of electronics
• Programming experience: Python, C/C++, Matlab
• Vacuum design and construction of high-precision mechanical setups at low temperatures
• Experimental experience in the field of quantum information processing

Advantageous are:

• Relevant experience in quantum optics, quantum information, quantum thermodynamics, atomic physics, laser physics and optics.
• Complementary studies in electronics and optoelectronics
