The orientation study is designed as a two-semester orientation phase that precedes the subsequent six- or seven-semester subject-related study. The goals of the innovative model are to expand the target group of potential STEM students, to facilitate the entry phase of studies by compensating for different learning prerequisites, to prevent students from dropping out of studies and changing subjects, to acquire key competencies relevant to academic success at an early stage and comprehensively, and to increase the proportion of women in STEM subjects.

 

Tasks:

  • Conception and organization of new courses (lecture series, orienting preliminary courses, tutorials, workshops, practical projects), instruction of tutorials in the context of the orientation study program,
  • Coordination and adaptation of model lesson plans; dovetailing with the orientation phase of the subsequent specialized study components,
  • Participation in the development of a joint regional and nationally effective strategy for student marketing, including operational implementation for the model study program for the first two study cohorts.
  • Participation in the evaluation of the pilot program during the funding period until 31.12.2020.
  • Participate in project documentation and project reporting.

 

Requirements:

  • Academic university degree in engineering, mathematics, natural sciences, educational sciences, vocational education, empirical educational research, sociology, higher education research, organizational theory or related fields of study completed with good to very good results; strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to present even complex factual contexts in an understandable and linguistically flawless manner.
