The position is initially limited to 2 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The position is part of a LOEWE project at the Department of Digital Technology.

 

Tasks within the LOEWE project:

  • Working on a research project in the field of digital image processing and machine learning,
  • Development of concrete algorithms from classical image processing as well as design and training of artificial neural networks,
  • Implementation of the results on system-on-chips consisting of CPUs and field-programmable devices (FPGAs),
  • Supervision of corresponding, project-sponsored student projects and events,
  • the pursuit of an additional scientific qualification (e.g. doctorate) is expected.

 

Requirements:

  • An excellent scientific university degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Very good programming skills in a relevant programming language (e.g. Python or C/C++) as well as programming experience,
  • Knowledge or experience in at least two of the areas of digital image processing, machine learning with neural networks, design of hardware circuits with VHDL or Verilog,
  • Knowledge of Matlab is an advantage, but not necessary,
  • Ability to think analytically and work thoroughly and as part of a team.

Very good German and good English skills are also required.
