Employee in the library service (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the university library

Tasks:

• Librarianship and technical support for the Hassiaca department, oral and written information about the collections, public relations work related to the compulsory collections (through publications and lectures) and development of cooperations and projects
• Assumption of specialist responsibilities for the Murhard Library of the City of Kassel
• Supporting the management of the State Library in the management of cataloguing and digitization measures for the historical collections as well as in the preparation and implementation of third-party funding and other projects
• Representation of the head of department of the State Library in case of absence

Requirements:

• Completed academic degree in the field of humanities, cultural studies or political science with a focus on early modern / modern times. Proof of academic qualification through doctorate and publications
• Familiarity with the requirements of supervising a regional department in academic libraries
• In-depth knowledge of palaeography and manuscript studies
• Good reading skills of early modern manuscripts as well as knowledge of methods and procedures of conservation and preservation of manuscripts and prints
• Practical experience in the conception of collection-related research projects
• Good knowledge of Latin
• Strong organizational skills
• High level of written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a team, ability to cooperate
• Ability and inclination for personnel management
• Service orientation
• Willingness to work flexible hours according to the requirements of the job
• Willingness to travel

An advantage would be

• Career examination for the higher service at academic libraries or comparable professional experience
• Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects and in the field of cataloguing and digitization of valuable old collections
• Experience in personnel management
• Confident oral and written English skills
• Broad knowledge of the general cultural, intellectual, musical and theological history of the North Hessian region
