Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 2 years as part of the project "Phosphoregulation of biomolecules: from mechanisms to organisms" (§ 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

Tasks:

Scientific collaboration in the intra-university interdisciplinary research group "Phosphoregulation of biomolecules: from mechanisms to organisms", in which the biological relevance of phosphomodifications in organisms is to be investigated from a structural, molecular and functional point of view. In this subproject, models are developed and atomistic simulations are carried out in order to theoretically describe conformational changes in proteins after phosphorylation and to make predictions. A one-to-one comparison with the experiments of the cooperation partners in the research group is aimed at. State-of-the-art methods are applied, such as molecular dynamics and Langevin simulations as well as Markov state modeling. Participation in interdisciplinary courses in physics and nanostructure sciences is expected.

Prerequisites:

Completed scientific university degree (MSc) in biophysics, chemistry, engineering or medicine; a completed doctoral thesis is desired; experience with protein databases, biomolecules and with the interpretation of biological experiments at the molecular level is required. Competence in programming and application of MD code and analysis tools. A deep knowledge of regulatory processes in biological systems is required.

Desired is:

Completed PhD thesis
