Postdoc-UNIKAT-Fellowship (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H

In 1989, the "Otto Braun Fund" was created to support young scientists as well as young artists.

The Postdoc-UNIKAT-Fellowship, sponsored by B. Braun Melsungen AG, provides the opportunity to develop new social applications on the basis of one's own application-oriented research results. These can be technical, social, ecological or even cultural innovations, which can be transferred into innovative product, service, organizational or business concepts, for example. The results should form the basis for business start-ups, marketing activities or cooperations with companies or organizations.

Target group:

Postdoctoral researchers at the University of Kassel who completed their doctorate no more than 24 months ago and doctoral candidates who have submitted their dissertation to the doctoral office or the relevant doctoral committee are eligible to apply. At the time of taking up the position on April 1, 2020, the dissertation must have already been defended and the oral examination passed.

Prerequisites:

The prerequisite for the application is a documented consultation in the UNIKAT start-up consultation. The documentation is part of the application process.

Application documents

Applications must be submitted in electronic form. The electronic documents must be sent as a PDF file (1 file!) by e-mail to: bewerbungen[at]uni-kassel[dot]de. The nomination in German or English includes the following documents:

• the online application form at www.uni-kassel.de/go/obf-formular-fellowship,
• a short letter of motivation with career plans and prospects (max. one page),
• a generally understandable summary of the project (max. one page),
• a project outline including work plan and timetable (max. eight pages in total), which, in addition to the necessary information on the further development of your own research results, also includes the application and social relevance (e.g. economic, social or cultural) as well as prospects for sustainable application, at least one page presentation of the business model (see consultation appointment with the UNIKAT start-up consultancy),
• Letter of recommendation from a professor at the University of Kassel (mentor) with a promise of supervision and support, including a promise to use the department's infrastructure required to carry out the project (intensive supervision of the work upon approval of the UNIKAT Fellowship is assumed and confirmed by the mentor's letter of support),
• Curriculum vitae in tabular form,
• the university transcripts and, if applicable, the doctoral certificate,
• for persons who have not yet completed their doctorate: the certificate of submission of the doctoral thesis to the relevant doctoral committee.

Selection procedure

A board of trustees, consisting of representatives of the professors, the Universitätsgesellschaft e.V. and B. Braun Melsungen AG, decides on the awarding of the fellowships according to quality and prospects of success. The Board of Trustees obtains an external expert opinion from the field to support its decision.
