Teacher for special tasks (m/f/d), EG 11 TV-H - Textile Study Workshop

Part-time with 75% of the regular hours of a full-time employee.

Responsibilities:

• Workshop manager of the Textile Study Workshop.
• Teaching and supervision tasks in the area of the study workshop with a scope of 18 semester hours per week
• Conception and implementation of courses in the field of textile technology for all students of the University of Kassel with the following contents:
  • Cut construction and making up of textile products
  • Weave theory dobby and jacquard
  • Basics of textile dyeing and textile printing, embroidery (computer-controlled), reserve techniques
  • of hand tufting as well as knitting

• Consultation and supervision of project and examination work under industrial-technical and handicraft aspects and a material-appropriate design and production of models and prototypes
• Responsible cooperation in textile research and artistic development
• Instruction in manual and mechanical working techniques in the form of group and individual lessons
• Organization of excursions to trade fairs, technical training centers, companies and museums
• Participation in the committees and boards of the art school
• Management of the inventory
• Independent initiation and implementation of occupational health and safety measures for the assigned area
• Preparation of operating instructions, risk assessments and initiation of resulting measures such as conducting briefings

Requirements:

• Completed college degree or a minimum six semester art college degree in design or related discipline with extensive knowledge of textile manufacturing techniques and technologies (analog and digital).
• Several years of professional experience (at least 3 years)
• Proven teaching experience
• Machinery and technology knowledge of the above technologies
• Extensive design knowledge and aesthetic sensibility
• Software skills (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, DesignaKnit, brother PE Design, Pointcarre)
• Ability to independently manage the study workshop in a professional, organizational, and communication capacity
