International symposium on the occasion of the exhibition "Suicide - Let's talk about it!"

"Suicide - Let's talk about it!" is the title and mission of the current special exhibition and accompanying program at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture. In the weeks and months since the opening on September 10, 2021, numerous visitors have been able to experience the exhibition and events. Together with experts and artists, they have filled the shameful and fearful silence that prevails in society around suicide and suicidal experiences with open discussions, lectures and readings.

At the final symposium in cooperation with the University of Kassel, three panels will focus on different topics: "Suicide", "Relatives" and "Society" and will be accompanied by lectures by international scientists and panel guests from various professional groups and voluntary work. The audience is invited to be not only an audience, but also a discussion partner and to actively participate in all of the day's talks.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to hold the symposium online. In addition to the disadvantages of a lack of physical presence, the virtual format offers the opportunity to provide access to a more numerous and international audience.
