Citizen Science Workshops on the Travel Diaries of Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser

Do you enjoy deciphering handwritten texts and old fonts, such as Kurrentschrift? Do you like words that have long since disappeared from common usage? Would you like to learn more about the former Kassel and its personalities? If so, let's research together and help record history(s).Immerse yourself in the 19th century. Get to know Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser, the architect of the Gemäldegalerie (today's Neue Galerie in Kassel), travel with him in the stagecoach or take a trip to Kugelsburg Castle in Volkmarsen for butter brûlions and wine.

Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser wrote detailed diaries in which he reported on his travels, leisure activities and his work as an architect. The handwritten records of the years 1847 and 1848 are available transcribed (transcribed into fair copy). However, there are some reading/word gaps within the texts that can be filled or corrected during a workshop. You will receive an introduction to the ORKA platform on which the digital copies are made available and learn about the various operating options. After a short introduction to the person Heinrich Dehn-Rotfelser and his travel diaries, you will participate in the completion of the digital version of his work.
