Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited until 30.09.2021 or, subject to further funding approval, can be extended to a total term of max. 24 months (§ 14 para. 2 TzbfG).

 

The International Study Center / Language Center(www.uni-kassel.de/sprz) is a central institution of the University. In addition to German and foreign language courses, it also offers key qualification courses in intercultural communication as well as programmes for the integration of international students and the internationalization of foreign students.

 

Tasks:

  • Teaching on a scientific basis and with scientific methods to the extent of 7 semester hours per week in the field of intercultural communication, including preparation and follow-up of teaching based on current, scientific discourses to promote a scientifically reflected understanding of inter-, multi- and transculture, to the extent of 7 SWS; teaching both in German and, if necessary, in English; additional opportunities for the development and expansion of further focal points are possible in principle, e.g. intercultural competence in international project work or similar.
  • Advising students on course-related issues, supervising intercultural project work as well as coordinating and providing specialist support for intercultural service learning (buddy program) and the Intercultural Mentor certificate training, possibly also other socially integrative offers from the International Study Center
  • Examination and correction tasks
  • Course planning, cooperation with various departments
  • Networking with other suitable courses at the International Study Centre (e.g. Latin American Competence, Intercultural Communication China-Germany) as well as with other courses on internationalization and the integration of international students

Prerequisites:

  • Completed academic university degree in Intercultural Communication or an academic university degree with an additional additional/continuing education course in Intercultural Communication completed at a university
  • Many years of successful teaching experience in the field of intercultural communication, preferably at a university
  • Experience in organizing project lessons with culturally mixed groups
  • Many years of experience in the creation of curricula, teaching materials and examination formats for the subject of intercultural communication
  • Proven very good German language skills at C1 / C2 level and very good English language skills at C1 level

 

An advantage:
