The future of mobility | Finissage of the exhibition "Herkules Racing Team | E-racing cars from the University of Kassel"

At the end of the exhibition on e-racing cars from the Herkules Racing Team, the University of Kassel is presenting an intelligent vehicle at UNI:Lokal. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the technology of autonomous driving, as well as the issues and challenges involved - and to try out the AI for themselves.

The "Intelligent Embedded Systems" department at the University of Kassel will be presenting a sensor-equipped car and demonstrating how it perceives its surroundings. The artificial intelligence recognizes pedestrians, cyclists, cars and other objects - in real time. Interested parties can try out the AI for themselves: A pose-estimation algorithm captures movements as a skeletal representation. At the same time, visitors can observe how the car uses LiDAR sensors to capture its surroundings in three dimensions.

An exhibition and a short lecture at 4 p.m. will provide further information on AI and autonomous systems.

Kaffeetalk | Autonomous driving - More sensors, more intelligence, more challenges?

Autonomous driving promises a future in which vehicles navigate independently through traffic. But with more sensors such as cameras, LiDAR and radar systems, the complexity of data processing is also increasing. How is it possible to make precise driving decisions from millions of sensor data in real time? And why is it not enough just to make individual cars smarter? In this coffee talk, we show the challenges and innovations that the autonomous driving of the future will bring and why networked infrastructure and smart cities will also play a central role in the mobility of the future.

Until March 29, the exhibition "Herkules Racing Team | E-Racing Cars from the University of Kassel" presents one of the most exciting projects at the university: the students of the Herkules Racing Team are building real racing cars for real competitions. They compete in Formula Student, an international design competition, against teams from other universities. At UNI:Lokal you will learn that there is much more to it than fast laps and quick pit stops.

Highlights of the exhibition are three racing cars from previous seasons. Test your driving skills in a vehicle simulator and achieve fast lap times! A Carrera track also invites you to join in and experience the speed.
