Research assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of cutting and joining manufacturing processes

The position is initially limited to 19 months and is subject to notification by the funding agencies (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The Department of Cutting and Joining Manufacturing Processes at the University of Kassel is concerned with both cutting and joining manufacturing processes. The main focus of the department is on adhesive bonding and welding processes and their non-destructive testing. In the field of welding technology, the department deals with friction stir welding. Within the framework of publicly funded and industrial projects, the research focus is on process understanding and further process development of the innovative joining process. 

Your tasks:

Within the framework of publicly funded projects, friction stir spot welding is to be investigated and further developed in combination with adhesives using the friction spot and resistance spot welding processes, together with industrial and research partners.

The scope of duties mainly includes the scientific processing and cooperative management of these research topics, the execution, evaluation and interpretation of experimental investigations, the guidance of student assistants as well as the participation in the execution of lectures.

Your requirements:

• above-average university degree (diploma or master's degree) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, materials science or electrical engineering
• interest in innovative production engineering issues and their investigations
• careful, independent and team-oriented way of working
• very good verbal and written communication skills (German)

Advantageous are:

• experience in the fields of materials technology, production engineering, measurement technology
• first experiences in the field of welding and control engineering
