Research Assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the Institute of Biology - Science Bridge

Part-time with half of the regular working time of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 3 years as part of the project "CRISPR/Cas - Public relations / Public outreach" (§ 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

• Maintenance of an internet blog and the usual social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
• Contact with scientific working groups (approx. 20 groups, Germany-wide)
• Organization of a roadshow (exhibition, lectures/discussions, lab courses for the public) at different locations
• Contact with the press offices of the participating universities
• own press contacts
• contacts to cooperating journalists
• participation in financial management

All work will be supported by the existing team. The place of employment is Kassel.

Requirements:

• completed academic university studies in relevant field of study
• demonstrable media experience
• interest in expanding own scientific knowledge
• ability to independently coordinate collaborations between scientists, artists and journalists 
• Ability to independently write media and public relations texts
• Ability to independently, reliably and efficiently operate / use social media
• Willingness to work confidently with a small university team
• Willingness to travel on business

Advantageous are:

• Basic knowledge in molecular biology (especially interest in gene editing with CRISPR/Cas)
• thorough and independent working style

• A high degree of organizational skills
• A high degree of teamwork skills and the ability to coordinate very heterogeneous teams
