Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the Department of Modern and Contemporary History

Part-time with half of the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited for 3 years with the possibility of extension for another 2 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in connection with § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of doctoral studies is given.

Tasks:

• Scientific collaboration in research and teaching in the field of modern and contemporary history (from 1789 to the present).
• Independent work on a research area in the field of modern and contemporary history from a global and interconnected history perspective,
• Support in the preparation of applications for external funding
• Implementation of a doctoral project
• Independent planning, implementation and follow-up of teaching in the amount of 2 SWS.

Prerequisites:

• Academic university studies in modern and contemporary history completed with very good to good results.
• In addition to German, very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of another modern foreign language
• Very good knowledge in approaches of global and interdependence history and/or concepts of modern cultural history

Advantageous are:

• Experience with archival research
• Experience with studying and/or researching in European and/or non-European countries
• Thorough and independent working methods
• A high degree of organizational skills
• Experience in planning courses and excursions

In addition to the usual application materials (cover letter, curriculum vitae, copy of transcripts), please submit your thesis in electronic format and a 10-page synopsis of your doctoral project (including footnotes and bibliography). Further, please outline on a half-page a course you would like to teach in your first semester (citing three titles of introductory literature).
