Job description:

In conjunction with the department Hydrology and Substance Balance, you draw up and apply for external funding for your own research project for your junior research group and perform the preliminary work for this. The research should be related to the DFG research unit FOR2432(www.uni-kassel.de/go/for-2432). When it comes to successfully establishing the junior research group, it is important to involve the planned project in the academic environment of the research unit and the faculty of Civil- and Environmental Engineering at the University of Kassel and this must be explained in a concept that forms part of the application.

Throughout the period funded by the university, you will lecture for four hours per week on a topic from your subject area.

List of requirements:

You

  • have a university degree in environmental engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology or equivalent
  • must have successfully completed your doctorate degree in groundwater ecology no longer than three years ago,
  • have relevant or even international research and publication experience, which qualifies you to provide academic leadership to a junior research group and meet the stipulations and requirements of the envisaged funding format,
  • are planning a forward-looking research project in the field of groundwater research, whereby the following topics can be a focus:
    • Groundwater quantity and quality
    • Contamination and groundwater protection
    • Groundwater flow and transport processes
    • Simulation of groundwater flow, transport and biogeochemical processes
    • Concepts for groundwater management

The applicants are expected to draw up a detailed specialist summary to attract a junior research group with an outline of the envisaged follow-up funding - if necessary, with alternatives. The summary must contain a detailed timetable and work plan for three years.
