We are looking for an internationally recognized personality with an active research portfolio at the forefront of modern physical chemistry.  Scientists combining the preparation and/or modification of innovative nanostructured materials with their characterisation using advanced instrumental physical techniques are particularly welcome to apply.  The potential appointee will further enhance the focus of the Institute for Chemistry in providing materials at the nanoscale and will use or develop instrumental techniques complementary to those established in the Department.  It is envisaged that the successful candidate will play a leading role in one of the topics currently at the core of the University's nano research center CINSaT (Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology) such as biosensorics, electron dynamics of chiral systems, photonics, and three-dimensional nanostructures, and will actively engage in collaborative research initiatives.

A high commitment to teaching, a track record of external funding, and a continuous stream of publications in internationally renowned peer reviewed journals are expected.  The appointee will teach physical chemistry at all levels in the Department's bachelor's and master's degree programs in nanoscience as well as in the teacher's degree programs with chemistry and, where necessary, will contribute to service teaching in other curricula.

Cooperation in academic self-management is an obligatory integral part of the position to be filled.

Profile of qualification:

The advertised position is subject to the requirements set out in paragraphs §§ 61, 62 of the Higher Education Act of Hessen (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz). The ability to teach in German, after a negotiable grace period, is a prerequisite for this position.
