Annual Report 2020 published

Despite the effects of the Corona pandemic, the University of Kassel was able to maintain operations and its research infrastructures throughout. The guiding principle of all measures and adapted regulations was to ensure comprehensive health protection for students, scientists, lecturers and employees of the university. This enabled students to continue their studies with a reliable examination schedule and scientists to teach and conduct research. The annual report includes information on developments in the areas of research, study and teaching, knowledge transfer, internationalization, and equality and human resources development, among others. The importance of the university in its life is illuminated by seven portraits in which young scientists, professors, founders and students have their say.

The report also contains key figures, for example on students, the budget and the development of third-party funding. A total of 24,607 students were enrolled in the 2020/2021 winter semester, slightly fewer than in the previous year (25,351). It is a good sign that almost as many students (20,076) re-registered for the winter semester as in the previous winter semester (20,182). This shows that the University of Kassel has coped well with the difficult conditions in the Corona year. The total of third-party funds, i.e. funds raised to finance research at the University of Kassel, also remains at a high level of around 63.6 million euros (2019: 64.4 million euros).
