We use it every day, completely as a matter of course: our language. But what exactly is language and what can it actually do? Language is often thought of as a means of communication. But language can do much more than that! A certain understanding of our own language not only helps us to communicate, but also serves our orientation and perception. This lecture will focus on the less noticed properties of language and show that language can do much more than just serve communication.
