Ardelia Anisa receives DAAD Prize

Ardelia Anisa has been studying for a Master's degree in International Food Business and Consumer Studies (IFBCS), an English-language cooperative degree program offered by the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen and Fulda University of Applied Sciences, since October 2021. Ardelia Anisa had previously completed a very good Bachelor's degree at the Swiss German University and the FH Südwestfalen.

Anisa was nominated for the prize by Prof. Dr. Bettina König and Tanja Verena Matheis from the Department of Sustainability Management in the International Food Industry, where she also worked as a student assistant for a year in 2022/23. König and Matheis emphasize Anisa's "extraordinary performance compared to other students in her year and the following years".

From 2021 to 2022, the Jakarta-born student was involved in public relations work at the Association of Indonesian Students (V.I.S. e.V.) in Germany. Here she was actively involved in building relationships with foreign students, especially from Southeast Asia, and organizing a wide range of events for them. In doing so, she helped to "create a valuable platform for intercultural exchange and cooperation between students from different countries and cultures", according to König and Matheis.

The award winner is currently involved in the Berlin initiative "Babsi" and mainly supports it in the area of social media. In this honorary position, she can contribute the extensive knowledge of sustainability issues and nutrition from her studies and thus help to communicate the diversity and ecological benefits of vegan food to a broad public and create a better awareness of sustainable diets. Her upcoming master's thesis will also tie in with this topic: Anisa will analyze Instagram marketing strategies of German companies that offer meat alternatives and thus research the traceability and transparency of various advertising measures.

The €1,000 prize was presented yesterday, October 7, by University President Prof. Dr. Ute Clement during the welcoming event for international students at the University of Kassel.

The DAAD prize is awarded every year and honors outstanding academic achievements as well as special social or intercultural commitment of an international student or doctoral candidate.
