Please note that a stay at an Erasmus+ (worldwide) partner university is not automatically linked to an Erasmus+ scholarship.

Scholarship opportunities

  • An Erasmus+ scholarship is possible for stays in the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel and Trinidad and Tobago
  • Funding amount: 700 € per month + travel allowance
    • Travel costs Albania: 275 €
    • Travel costs Bosnia and Herzegovina: € 275
    • Travel expenses Israel: 360 €
    • Travel expenses Trinidad and Tobago: €820
  • Additional funding for participants with fewer opportunities
    • Additional grant of € 250 per month
    • The following groups are eligible for funding:
      • Students with a disability
      • Students with additional needs due to a chronic illness
      • Students with a child
      • First-time academics (students from a non-academic family)
      • Students in employment
    • If you fall into more than one category, the additional funding can only be granted once.
  • Additional funding for Green Travel
    • if the majority of the journey to/from the host institution (more than 50% of the journey there and back) is made by low-emission means of transport such as train, bus, bicycle or carpooling
    • Up to 6 additional travel days + increased travel allowance
      • increased travel costs Albania: € 320
      • increased travel costs Bosnia and Herzegovina: €320
      • increased travel costs Israel: 410 €
  • Duration of funding:
    • Minimum duration: 2 months
    • Maximum duration: 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, state examination, artistic degree)
  • BAföG abroad
    • The Erasmus+ (worldwide) scholarship can be combined with BAföG abroad. For more detailed information, please contact the relevant BAföG office.
    • The additional funding for participants with fewer opportunities in the case of disability, chronic illness and students with children is not offset against BAföG abroad. However, first-time graduates and employed students will be credited (see BMBF decree on the Federal Training Assistance Act and the Erasmus Social Top Ups).
